General Information
The Scientific Department of Education Management traces its history back to April, 2001. It was founded as a result of a resolution of the Board of Founders Meeting.
During its operation the faculty of the Scientific Department was changing, and since 2007 Prof. Nina Ushakova, PhD is the Dean of the Department.
The Department provides training for students in the majors Higher Education Pedagogy and Education Institution Management, as well as instructions and trainings for students of other majors at the KROK University. Other responsibilities of the Department include conducting pedagogical and sociological research in education and supervising of sociological research laboratories of the University.
Prof. N.M. Ushakova has established the School of Teaching Skills - the program designed for higher education institutions instructors and provides trainings in Innovational Technologies of Higher Education Organization and Teaching Methods in Higher Education. There were special programs elaborated by the faculty of the Department and licensed by the Ukrainian authorities in 2007.
Prof. N.M. Ushakova and T.V. Finikov, PhD are among those professors of the Department who actively participate in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine workgroups in higher education legislative acts improvement.
Prof. N.M. Ushakova takes an active part in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Coordination Board and work groups on elaboration of a new decree on education process organization and accreditation of education institutions. She also had prepared a draft on Methodological recommendations for provision of education quality in Ukraine in accordance with the European university standards. Prof. N.M. Ushakova is also the Head of the Board of the Ukrainian association on management and business education development in Ukraine.
Professors of the Department T.V. Finikov and O.G. Iaroshenko participate in Education, Culture and Art Expert Board at the State Attestation Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
L.I. Parashchuk, a professor of the Department, is also a Head of the Kyiv School Directors Association.
T.V. Finikov was a member of the coordinative committee of the project on University autonomy as a part of civic society.
Between 2006-2008 the Department conducted sociological research on teachers training assessment and took part in the second stage of the expert survey of the University staff, professors and students within the Higher Education Institutions Consortium framework to investigate issues in university autonomy development. The professors of the Department T.V. Finikov and O.J. Chehovska were involved in improvement of the current Professors Rating Procedure and processing of the rating results, which incorporated profound knowledge of administrative work.
The Scientific Department is constantly monitoring the training process at the University and its methodological support. The Department participated in elaboration of the Monitoring Regulations at the University, Informational and Computer Development Strategy, Language Training Strategy and other documents. The responsibilities of the faculty members include scientific support and monitoring of the innovations in education at the University, as well as elaboration of higher education standards for the institution, implementation of credit and module training organization system, and writing of syllabi, improvement of curricula structural and logic schemes.
New curricula and methodology were elaborated to meet the requirements of modern training programs. There were published several works, such as a textbook Interactive Teaching methods in Higher Education for master students majoring in Intellectual Property etc.
Research activity:
The main fields of research activity at the Scientific Department are:
-Issues in Pedagogical Support and Management of Professional Training in Economics, Law, Finance and Management within the Framework of Integration of National Education into the European Education Area,
- Modern University Management and Training Organization Technologies: Transfer, Adaptation, Development.
The results of research found their development and implementation in everyday practical training activity of the faculty members. Another research project on Overview of Higher Education was also carried out within the field of studying.
The professors of the Scientific Department supervise internships and writing of master’s theses and papers, organize scientific and pedagogical practicum for master students and assist in research conducted by students.
The list of topics for writing master’s theses is regularly updated according to their adequacy and compliance with modern science and training innovations to meet the State Examination Commission requirements and recommendations.
The training programs of the Scientific Department are highly computerized. There are electronic textbook and reference materials in such courses as Educational and Training Process Organization and Planning, Educational Institution Management, Sociological Research in Higher Education, Educational and Professional Training Models, Higher Education System of Ukraine, State Higher Education Standards and National Education Policy.
In the recent years the faculty members were conducting a special scientific research on the scientific personnel training system and attestation in Ukraine in comparison with other Eastern European countries.
The scientists of the department are currently working on the topics of sociological image of non-state higher educational establishment and implementation of computer testing into students assessment process.
The scientific department takes responsibility of launching a scientific discussion at the University in terms of running a series of scientific seminars and round tables in the framework of University Autonomy project. The topics of discussion are current issues in management of higher education institution improvement and transfer of Central and Eastern European universities technologies and achievements into Ukrainian practice.
